Life is for living

The last 2 weeks have been a wee bit hectic for me; I moved 100 miles to a new town, started a new job and had a few 'things sent to test me' arise. But I'm ready to get back to blogging after a slight hiccup...

Home isn't home until you make brownies right?

Thing's I'm loving...

You know sometimes when you think, I really really like that. The lipstick you find yourself reaching for every single day, those so-cute but so-comfy flats that go with everything, that feeling when that someone texts you. Those things you just can't imagine ever getting bored of?

Well...these are my top 3 things at the moment

1) This combination

New Look Jacket (this one is from 915 but you can get it from the adults range as well or similar is available from River Island and Topshop)
For me its great to throw on and looks effortlessly good with the contrast PU and khaki. I'm not a big khaki/armyy fan so this is more than enough of that influence for me! The shoes are from Primark (£12) and I love the the ideal mix for me of studs and spikes, still girly and still pretty. Ideal for dressing up jeans. I particularly love them with these light blue ones. (£15.99)
Also from New Look childrens haha (I love being small sometimes)
2) Fresh Brows
Mmmmm there is no other feeling that freshly waxed brow, I've been a BeneBrow girl since the beginning and I've never looked back. I adore the girl that does them, I've found most of the Benefit counter/brow girls to be and I love how they look when she's done. I just pop a bit off colour on to fill them in and then a bit of wax then hey presto I'm done. In my opinion eyebrows can make the biggest difference.

A benefit brow arch cost £11.50 and there are counters nationwide(:

3) Nails! This is my go to combination at the moment. It looks gorgeous and feminine and I'm having a last minute glitter/shimmer fun before I have to start my new job and go all professional when it comes to my nails

Models own Utopia and Indian Ocean available from Boots (£5)
(You also get a free nail art pen for free if you buy two Models own products from Boots)

What's everyone else's little obsessions right now?

Leopards with Pink Spots?

Hello(:

I am trying not to spend so much money because of moving house and things, so I've been cutting back. However I picked up this little number which looks awfully familiar in my opinion to this TooFaced bad boy!

At just wait for it...less than 10% of the cost. (It also comes in a Benefit style box instead of a round compact but I like boxes anyway! I definitely didn't drop it and make some of it break (oops)

This w7 Africa Bronzer its lovely for me as a pale one! I do need to make sure I give it a good swirl with a different brush (This one is shocking; but who am I to complain for £1.99) to avoid dark patches.
It has a nice amount of colour payoff, I personally like buildable bronzers so I don't go from Milky to Oompa Loompa in 10 seconds.

As you can hopefully see from the pictures, there's a definitely mix of the pinky blush and darker bronzes to give a nice sun kissed look without going overkill. I am really happy with my little purchase. For only £1.99 from Savers! I'll be honest I've never really been in a Savers before so was pleasantly surprised at finding this in my new town.

Oh and just a quick face 'on face' photo!

Anyone else been pleasantly surprised by a shop they don't usually go into lately?

How much is my face worth?

I tend to wear the same/similar make up everyday, occasionally changing the way I do my eyeliner/eyeshadow colour and then just varying lip/blush combos. Or being really lazy and just wearing a bit of mascara.

This is my face...

And this is my product list (it looks horrendous writing it down; I promise I don't have a cake face!)

Vichy Aqualia Rich face cream (£16); I personally love this for my dry face, last ages and it seems to be massive in Europe. Interrailing this summer it was available everywhere! I prefer this to the Benefit total moisture cream (which to be honest, I am not a fan of and wish I'd never bought it; silly packaging sucked me in!)

Benefit Porefessional primer (£23.50); I haven't been using this long but so far I do really like it, over the summer I've been mixing it with a little of MeMeMe's version of Benefit's high beam I think. The packaging has changed from the one that I have, but it look's similar to this. I'd recommend it as a cheaper alternative!

For concealer my go to is the same as everyone's Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in fair I think (my only gripe with this really is how quickly the writing comes off the packaging, but it's cheap and cheerful at £3.99)

Foundation, at the moment is Dior Forever (£31) in 020 which I've been using for a while now, I adore the smell! I'm really keen to try Dior Airflash spray foundation but I don't think any of the colours are right for me being so pale!

I have been using Benefit's One Hot Minute (£23.50) over most of my face to add a little bit of colour with a tiny bit of Dior Rosy Glow (£29.50) on my cheeks which can look so pretty but can be built up really easily.
Eyebrows I use Korres eyebrow pencil no3 (£8), I've never heard of other people using this but I like this although I have just bought a FashionistA brow kit which I'm excited to give a proper try!

On my eyes I tend to use sin/sidecar/virgin from the Naked Palette (£36). I hardly ever use my Naked Palette 2 and in a way wish I hadn't bought it. Does anyone else feel like this?

I've just found out (when looking for a link) Topshop no longer do the liquid eyeliner I use (sob!) so will be on the look out for a new one, please send any suggestions my way! But the one I use was £6 I think...

I've rebought the same mascara about 3 times now, which for me probably means I do like it, I have a habit of changing things around; Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara (£9.99)

Finally on my lips I have a Boots No7 Lipstick which has been discontinued. It was £8 but there's plenty of similar ones around, just a slight orangey red.

So in total my face is worth... £189.48

Eeek! What's your face worth?

What I wore; Dipped in florals

I went out for a few drinks with friends last night and this is just a quick what I wore (I'm staying in student halls for a few weeks before I start my job so excuse the fetching carpet(; ha)

The dress is a dipped hem number from River Island (£35), which is really different for me. I tend to stick to more fitted things because I'm quite short and find looser fit things aren't very flattering. I did buy this in a size 6 to lose some of the oversized feel and suit me better. It's really roomy because well I'm no size 6 but find the smaller fit on the bust and waist more flattering personally.

The jacket is an aviator I bought last season from Dorothy Perkins and you can get these everywhere, it's been a go to jacket and I've worn it so much and I'm really glad I bought it.

The shoes are from Primark (pretty sure they were £16) and you can get them in a gorgeous burgundy colour which I have my eye on. I love wedges at the moment just for the comfort factor and they just add a bit to a simple outfit. There are some similar ones to the Primark ones available from Asos (£30) and H&M  (19.99).

Is anyone else preferring wedges right now?

Double Take

I absolutely love boots, moreover I like how many different styles you can get. I have one pair of good quality Kurt Geiger boots which I love, but they don't go with everything. I normally buy a few pairs each winter, to wear for that season. Which I will despise the next, so I do like a cheaper pair because if I'm honest I won't wear them enough to justify spending a lot (especially when I start 9-5'in in a few weeks boohoo!)

So...I've seen the Amelie boots and Mighty Topshop boots everyone loves and spotted these on Look's website within the Primark AW12 lookbook. They may not be exact copies but they certainly have a similar style, and they may not be leather but at the end of the day you get what you pay for or can afford and as far as I'm concerned they're not bad for under £20 a pair!

Black Leather Look Studded Boots; Primark £20
Brown Leather Look Zip Boots; Primark £18

Having said all this the Mighty boots at only £45 is a bargain for leather and Topshop and well they're quite pretty don't you think? I do really like the nubuck leather style and I have some Topshop vouchers left from my birthday. May have just talked myself into them...

p.s This is an attempt at a scheduled post! I should be on may way to a house viewing (hopefully the one) ready for a big move in 3 weeks eek!
